Outside Asia Or Middle East Xiaomi is not unknown much, but company is expending very fast and will be available in the United States soon even though company is a gigantic force in the Android world. Recent rumours suggest Xiaomi is dropping the “Note” lineup name.
Xiaomi sells millions of phones a year and runs several successful lines that range from ultra-budget up to flagship.
It was one of the companies to jump on the bezel-less bandwagon, with Mi MIX in 2016. One of its most popular phone lineups is the Redmi Note line, but it looks like the company is shuttering it.
According to a post from super moderator Mitch002 on Xiaomi’s MIUI forums, the company has decided to drop the Note name. The post reads in part:
The wait is finally over, Xiaomi has finally decided to release the Redmi Note 5, wait!!! I heard its called the Redmi 5 Plus? No kidding?? There was a name change? Well yes folks, the 2 new Redmi Note sized phones are named Redmi 5 for the 5.7″ and Redmi 5 Plus for the 5.99″. What will happen to the successor of the Redmi 4X which is supposed to be a 5″ Redmi 5? No one knows, but as of the moment, Xiaomi has decided to drop the Note name on their 5.7″ sized budget phones.
This isn’t coming by way of press release or official communication from Xiaomi, so take it with a salt grain. But, super moderators are generally in the know when it comes to Xiaomi, so there is probably some truth to the claim. It is worth noting Xioami recently announced Redmi 5 and 5 plus in China.
Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus comes with similar specifications like Redmi Note 5.
Those who have been waiting for the successor to Redmi Note 4 should probably look to Redmi 5 Plus now. The Redmi 5 Plus comes with Snapdragon 625 processor, 3 or 4 GB RAM, and 32 or 64 GB storage. It has a 2160×1080, 18:9 display, 12 MP primary camera, 5 MP front-facing camera, and a 4,000 mAh battery.
