Recently we have seen number of bezel-less smartphones coming from China, most of them look like from same ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) with slight customization, some phones are available on order some on pre-order and some will be launched soon. Most affordable bezel-less smartphone with 6GB RAM currently available to buy is DOOGEE MIX, view unboxing video of DOOGEE MIX.

Many people call this beautiful phone as replica of MI Mix By Xiaomi, but fact is this bezel-less phone was originally designed by Sharp called sharp aquos in 2014 but XIAOMI is the reason that people know this tri-bezel-less design.

At first sight front of this phone looks like MI MIX but carries its own differences, in design, in specifications and so on.

View Full Specifications

As we already mentioned it is tri-bezel-less smartphone with little bigger chin than MI MIX, which accommodates fingerprint sensor and 5MP front facing camera. unlike MI MIX it houses normal speaker on top which is clear than MI MIX but not crisp like other phones in market.

On back it sports 16MP + 8 MP dual cameras setup. 8MP camera is only used to measure the depth of field to produce great bokeh effect rather than taking a picture as there are many ways for dual camera setup.

Both front and back panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 which provides really great protection from scratches.

Display:

Display of this phone is super AMOLED 5.5 inches with gorilla glass 5 and body dimension is same as any 5 inches phone which makes is easy to hold and operate with one hand and enjoy bigger screen.

Even though company calls it bezel-less but it is near to bezel-less as display is not 100% edge to edge. You can call is near to bezel-less

Resolution is HD 720P which is smaller on paper but due to Samsung Super AMOLED panel it looks clear and feels like 1080P.

Helio P20 or P25:

This phone comes in 3 variants with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB ROM and one of those is limited edition with 6GB ROM and 128GB internal storage.

A Tear Down of DOOGEE MIX by FURMANOFF revealed many facts including secondary rear camera is not dummy at all.

CPU test apps are showing the clusters running at max clocks of 4@2.39GHz and 4@1.39GHz. According to MTK, Helio P25 is clocked upto 2.6GHz. So, with this wording, it’s POSSIBLE that some Helio P25 SoC actually are clocked at 2.4GHz max.

Also note that Helio P20 is clocks UP TO 2.3GHz, which disqualifies MT6757CH as Helio P20.

SoC makers often use the same SoC, but with higher GPU and CPU clocks and resell them as a new SoC. So similar case could be with P25.

At the moment, the clue missing is whether or not MT6797CH is denoted Helio P25 by MediaTek. And, it’s the only thing that matters in determining whether or not Doogee and Vernee are falsely representing MT6757CH.

Interestingly AnTuTu Benchmark v6.2.7 shows it is MTK6757CD (P25) see screenshot below.

Does second camera on DOOGEE MIX works?:

In Tear Down by FURMANOFF we can see the presence of both rear cameras which proves this phone comes with dual camera setup and no any manufacturer adds two physical cameras but uses only one this doesn’t make any sense.

Some people pointed that second rear camera does not work at all by hiding one camera, before we come to conclusion whether both cameras are working or not. we should understand what type of dual camera setup is used in Doogee MIX.

This phone’s secondary camera only measure depth of field to produces Bokeh effect and it does not take any sort of picture.

Monochrome Picture is done via software and taken with main rear camera only. iPhone like 2X zoom is not optical zoom but a Digital Zoom and done by software with similar effect as in Apple iPhone, so there is no any contribution of second rear camera in any case other then blurred background.

One-Hand Operation:

Even though over all dimensions of phone are easy to handle with one hand but most useful feature for me is one-hand operation makes it easy to operate, while walking or moving. it is very smooth, easy to activate/deactivate, easy to move to either sides of screen, and i didn’t observe any bug in this.

Pie Menu:

Pie menu is another feature similar to floating menu with addition of toggle msection, screenshot, settings gear and scanner but it is bit buggy and i found it hard to open it (watch above video).
