Experts are not happy as Google bans cryptocurrencies including bitcoin adverts on its platforms and call it an ill-thought-out. According to new policy, which comes into effect this month, follows similar bans from Facebook and Twitter.

Google announced the ban via an official post on blogpost, stating: “Ads for the following will no longer be allowed to serve”.

What Google Banned / Restricted on adWords

This specific post is new restriction policy for financial services which includes Cryptocurrencies and related content (including but not limited to initial coin offerings, cryptocurrency exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets, and cryptocurrency trading advice.”.

No more ICOs ads on Google, Facebook and Twitter

Financial services under this restrictions includes Contracts for Difference, Rolling Spot Forex, Financial Spread Betting, Binary Options and Synonymous products.

To offer these services you must acquire a certificate from Google before you can advertise through AdWords.

Only services in certain countries can get this Google Certification.

Google allows certificate in below countries only

Google allows financial services from European Union, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, Russia, South Africa, United States, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand to get certificate.

What do you need to publish financial service ad?

Only authorized agencies by the relevant financial services authority in the country or countries your are targeting. Not only this but you need to fulfill other legal compliance for Google Certification.
