Amazon and Apple recently struck a deal that would (finally) see Amazon selling apple product directly from the company.
And it looks like that has officially kicked off. MacRumors confirmed today that Amazon is now listing several different products that are on sale directly from Apple, including the iPad lineup, several different Macs, Apple Watches, and even the Apple TV. That last device, the set-top box, is curious in its inclusion of available products, considering that it is a direct competitor to a variety of different streaming options that Amazon offers.
However, Amazon also offers up its Fire-branded tablet lineup and you can definitely buy iPads, so maybe there is some wiggle room with the deal between the two companies. Amazon is definitely not selling the HomePod, though, Apple’s first smart speaker, due to the fact it competes directly with Amazon’s Echo lineup of smart speakers.
These kinds of deals are always interesting.
However, what is still missing is the iPhone. That is still coming, though, as it is part of the deal between the two giant entities. While Apple is now listing its other popular products, there is no word yet when the iPhone lineup will make its debut on the digital storefront.
Another thing to consider here is a slight discount that might be present on certain items. The discounts are pretty minimal, like the 9.7-inch iPad with Apple Pencil support that’s going for $398.98 with Amazon Prime (that’s saving $30.10, or 7%, over the full retail). Other devices, though, like the brand new 11-inch iPad Pro is still priced at full retail ($799) for the base model with 64GB of built-in storage. So if you’re looking to buy a new Apple product from Amazon, you may get lucky and see a small price decrease.
I picked up a pair of iPads for Christmas presents this year from Amazon. Do you plan on buying anything, even if it isn’t Apple-branded and just offered up with a great Black Friday deal?
